The tower itself has 39 steps, which isn't manageable for everyone. However, you can enjoy views of the folly from the surrounding demesne grounds and gardens without climbing. We've got plenty of benches and rest spots throughout the estate.

The historic 3-inch refractor telescope in the demesne grounds is on display as a heritage piece. If you're interested in stargazing, we can arrange evening astronomy sessions during darker months where you'll get telescope viewing experiences and learn about Birr's fascinating astronomical heritage.

The river walk is one of the gentlest routes on the estate—it's about 1.5 kilometers along the River Camcor with minimal elevation change. You'll see native woodland, water meadows, and plenty of spots to pause and watch the water.

Yes—we've positioned benches throughout the gardens and demesne so you're never far from a rest spot. There's a visitor center with tea rooms, accessible restrooms, and water fountains. You can also pick up maps that show exactly where the rest areas are.

Late spring (May-June) is stunning for the herbaceous borders, and autumn (September-October) brings rich colors to the woodland walks. Winter's quieter but magical, and summer gives you longer daylight for evening astronomy sessions. There's honestly something lovely about visiting in every season.
